Citizens gathered at India Gate to protest against CAA & Proposed NRC exercise.

I am currently in Delhi and most of my documents are in Kerala when NRC exercise is announced as stated by Home Minister Amit Shah several times.

I will have to go back to Kerala to either collect the document or take part in the exercise in ‘National Interest’, which means unnecessary travel back home, now according to NRC conducted in Assam, some people had to go to these centers multiple times. If I will have to do that, I might have to quit everything I do here for ‘National Interest.”

In Assam, NRC cost the government Rs 1220 crores and it was spread across a decade, conducted by the very government officials who otherwise have other routine work, an estimated 50,000 government employees participated in the exercise at Assam. Home Minister Amit Shah says, they will complete the exercise before 2024. That’s a scary window period, which means the officials will have an unimaginable workload as we have 134 crore people.

Any system when implemented has a fault rate, even if we take the lowest fault rate in the world at 1%, an estimated 2 crore citizens might be left out and they will have to fight the legal battle. I might afford a lawyer but not everyone, also 26% of Indians are illiterate, that’s 34 crore people, who will support them on making them understand the process? We have heard several stories on how certain people never knew about demonetisation and lost their hard-earned money.

When you say, you support CAA, you are discriminating between religions, for e.g, two Illegal migrants Abraham and Ibrahim who reached India from Bangladesh on 30th December 2014, Abraham will get citizenship and Ibrahim will not. The Act doesn’t state that an immigrant has to prove religious persecution anywhere in the document.

Don’t you really think, that’s unfair, what if both of them are close friends? And Abraham insists that he be also sent to the detention center along with Ibrahim.

We don’t choose friends based on religion, do we?

Now, support us, because we are saving the country from a huge personal and national economic loss, not to forget the mental trauma one has to go until the final list gets published.
