That’s me — Posing for a picture

The first time I wrote my life updates was back in 2012, the year Mayans expected the world to end. I really hoped the world would end because I had screwed up my life big time.

(You can read about the screw-ups here. )

I guess I kept putting my diary out once in a while but as Instagram and WhatsApp have become the order of the day, everyone would know what am I up to on day to day basis, so there was no reason to give a descriptive account of my life until last year where I opened about beating depression.

But sometimes I love to brag about myself, mostly the “mandatharams” of my life. So here I am, a survivor of 2020 talking about myself.

L for Love

People fall in love with other people, but I fell in love with bicycles, not that I didn’t want to see anyone but some things don’t work for everyone. How much can you swipe right :-D

Uppar sein my parents want me to get married because they saw a photo of mine with my friend's kid. They want grandchildren already. Fortunately, I escaped the marriage conversation for the nth time citing valid reasons. The best being, I am a child, I don’t want one.

Cutie Pie and I

Bicycles are the best things in the world. It also comes with a lot of milestones.

See, when you love something you will find time eventually. The best memory I have about cycling is the longest ride with my besties.

The love for cycling also meant the birth of a new company, United By Cycling, an online bicycle store for all things bicycle.

I for Interests

What can I say about interests, I like reading, writing and traveling. Although the virus abruptly ended by travel plans, I did my first solo trip to Kasol and Jaipur at the beginning of 2020. It was altogether a different experience, I even managed to miss a bus from Kasol to Delhi and had to rant about it on Twitter. Thankfully a good samaritan saved my day.

Grrr — Medium needs a lot of space for a single tweet

I managed to read around eight books in 2020, for me the best of the lot was 1984 by George Orwell and I see it happening all around me. Munawar Faruqi must have read the book before planning to render his joke. I wrote for The Quint and Asiaville Malayalam in 2020 as part of my college chores.

By the beginning of 2020, politics had become my life. I was breathing politics and I started seeing politics in everything I touched upon. I even managed to show my rage against the fascist BJP government. I was very much active in Delhi and once I was back in Kochi, I took part in many protests against the CAA-NRC laws.

F for Friends

I wish I could come with a collage, but nowadays I am too occupied to find time to make one. So here are some of the photos with my friends. You would find one thing very common, that’s cycling again.

E for Education

I managed to earn a Post Graduate degree in Mass Communication and Journalism from the same college where I completed my graduation back in 2009. Although we didn’t get a farewell because of the pandemic, completing PG in the early thirties felt good. I don’t think I have a photo to share. I did manage to secure a CGPA of over 8 ..so yay!

Now that was LIFE 2020 — it was quite exciting despite the pandemic.
